Further to our post on Home Security and Crime Rates in the USA, here's a small section enlarged which shows the times when a property is most vulnerable and also the methods used to gain entry.

At a time when there is one burglary every 15.4 seconds in the USA, Britain is unlikely to be far behind so it is always a good idea to take a look at your current security arrangements to check that they pass muster, particularly at a time of year when homes will contain even more than their usual quota of attractive targets.

Make sure that you don't leave wrapped presents under the tree in full view of the window as these can be an open invitation to any passing thief to come and have a go. All windows should also be kept closed and locked whilst the room is unattended. It only takes seconds for a professional burglar to be in and out with his swag whilst you're in the kitchen making a cup of tea between wrapping your gifts.
