TYPES OF CCTV
A compact, lower cost option for indoor use or sheltered spots, covering hallways, porches and entrances inside your home.

TYPES OF CCTV
Built to handle the weather and harder to tamper with, dome cameras are a common choice outdoors and give better night-time vision with longer IR distances.

TYPES OF CCTV
The shape most people picture when they think of CCTV. Being clearly visible makes them a deterrent, and they are usually pointed at gates, driveways or entrances.
CHOOSING A SYSTEM
Camera kits bought online are cheap, and for some people they are enough, particularly if all you want is a view of the front door. It is worth knowing what you get for the money before you decide.
A KIT YOU FIT YOURSELF | A system installed by spy Alarms |

You work out where the cameras go, so the side gate, the back door or the drive are easy to miss. | We survey the property first and base the cover on how someone would actually try to get in. |
Cameras fitted within easy reach are simple to tamper with, and a wide angle can leave faces too small to make out. | Cameras are mounted at a height and angle that give you a picture worth having of the areas that matter. |
Footage usually goes to the cloud, where keeping more than a few days of it tends to mean a monthly fee, and cameras on your Wi-Fi stop recording if the signal drops. | Footage records to a hard drive at the property, with 30 days of continuous recording, set up on site by our engineers. |
Anyone can fit a kit, so there is no independent check on how the work was done. | We hold NSI NACOSS Gold approval for the design, installation and maintenance of CCTV systems, and our engineers are police checked. |
If something stops working, diagnosing it and chasing the supplier is down to you. | One number to call, with servicing to keep the system working and the warranty valid. |
For a view of the front door, a kit may well do. For cover you can rely on, and footage still worth having months later, it pays to have the system designed and fitted properly.

Have questions about home CCTV, installations, or our other services? You are in the right place. We have pulled together answers to the queries we get asked most.
Yes. You are free to use CCTV to cover your own property. Data protection law applies if your cameras capture beyond your boundary, such as a neighbour's garden, a shared drive or a public footpath. The ICO advises positioning cameras to capture only your own property where possible.
Mount them high enough to be hard to tamper with, covering entrances, driveways and ground-floor windows. Angle them so they capture your property rather than a neighbour's garden or a public path.
If your cameras only cover your own property, a sign is not a legal requirement, though it still works as a deterrent. If they pick up a neighbour's garden, a shared space or a public path, ICO guidance says you need to let people know CCTV is in use, usually with a sign.
Yes. Lenses need keeping clean, cables should be checked, and any foliage growing in front of a camera needs trimming back. We can handle this as part of an aftercare visit.
Yes. We can set your system up for remote viewing on your phone or tablet, so you can check in while you are out.
