SMART HOMES

Integrated smart home security systems and installation in Kent, London and the South East

Arm, disarm and control all of your home security systems from an easy-to-use app.

A QUICK GUIDE

What is smart home security?

Smart home security means controlling your burglar alarm, CCTV and door entry from an app on your phone, rather than managing each system separately. General home automation, such as smart heating or lighting, is a different thing. At Spy Alarms we are experts in smart home security systems, and we fit the systems that connect what you already have.

We have engineers based across London and Kent, in areas such as Sevenoaks, Dartford and Maidstone, and we also work across Surrey, Sussex and the wider South East.

SMART HOME SECURITY

How do smart home security systems work?

We install smart home burglar alarms you can control from an app on your phone or tablet. Through the app you turn the alarm on or off and set different zones to be active or inactive, so you can leave part of the house protected while someone is at home.

We can link your home CCTV to the same system, so you can check on the cleaner, the children or the pets, either live or on playback. Where a smart lock or video intercom is fitted, you can also unlock the door remotely for someone you are expecting.

If the alarm is triggered, the notification reaches your phone straight away, so you can look at the CCTV and call the police if you need to.

Use cases and benefits of integrated smart home security systems

With an integrated system you control your home security systems from wherever you are. The practical difference shows up in four ways.

Convenience. You are not stuck at home waiting for a delivery or a tradesperson, and there is no need to leave a key under the mat.

Faster awareness. If the alarm activates while you are out, you know straight away rather than hours later.

Flexible access. A family member, cleaner or dog walker can be given access at the times that suit you, and that access can be changed or removed whenever you want.

Better oversight. With CCTV linked in, you can check the parts of your home that matter to you, live or after the event.

You still need to lock up and set the alarm. What a smart system changes is how easily you can manage the security you already have, and how clearly you can see what is happening at home.

AN ALL-IN-ONE SOLUTION

Which home security systems can be integrated with the smart app?

Depending on what you already have and what you would like to add, we can bring the following into an app-controlled setup.

Smart burglar alarms. Arm, disarm and manage zones remotely, with an alert sent to your phone the moment the alarm is triggered. See our burglar alarm systems.

CCTV. View live footage or recorded playback from your phone. See our CCTV systems.

Smart locks and door entry. Let visitors in remotely for deliveries, cleaners or family members without a key. See our door entry systems.

24/7 monitored alarms. A professional monitoring centre responds to activations, with police response available as an option. See our monitored alarms.

Not every home needs every system connected. Some homeowners want their existing alarm and CCTV linked together, others want the full set. We install fire alarm systems alongside as well, and we will talk through what makes sense for your home at the site survey.

Upgrading to a Spy Alarms Smart Home system couldn't be easier

Book a free site survey. An engineer visits to see what you already have, whether that is an existing alarm, CCTV or door entry, and talks through what you want to control from the app.

Get a quotation. We put together a written quotation covering the equipment and installation needed, along with the cost.

Installation. Once you accept the quote we book the work in. A straightforward upgrade to an existing wireless alarm can often be done in one visit.

Testing and handover. We test each part of the system and show you how to use the app, including setting up zones, adding users and managing alerts.

Aftercare. Installations come with a one-year warranty and a maintenance package, so support does not stop once the system is on.

Why choose Spy Alarms for your smart home security

Spy Alarms has been installing security systems for homes across Kent, London and the South East for over 40 years. A few things worth knowing when you are comparing providers.

We hold NSI NACOSS Gold approval for the design, installation and maintenance of intruder and hold-up alarm systems, CCTV and access control. That is independently assessed rather than something we award ourselves. See our accreditations.

Every installation comes with a one-year warranty and a maintenance package, so support continues after the system is switched on.

Our own engineers carry out the site survey and the installation, so the person who quotes your job understands what is involved.

Smart home technology moves quickly. We keep track of what is coming to market, so we only fit systems that have been tried and tested.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Smart home security FAQs

What is smart home security?

It is app-based control of your home security systems, usually your burglar alarm, CCTV and door entry, from a phone or tablet rather than managing each one separately. General home automation such as smart heating or lighting is a separate thing, and not something we install.

Can I add smart control to my existing alarm or CCTV system?

Often yes, though it depends on the age and type of your current equipment. We check this at your free site survey and tell you what is possible before you commit to anything.

Can I have a guard sent out instead of the police?

Yes. As well as police and fire brigade response, we offer guard response. If your alarm is triggered, an SIA-licensed security guard can attend to check your premises and secure them if needed, then report back to you or a nominated keyholder. This is a good option if police response is not available for your system, or if you would simply prefer someone to check your premises in person.

How long does installation take?

It depends what is being fitted. A straightforward upgrade to an existing wireless alarm can often be completed in one visit. A full system covering alarm, CCTV, locks and intercom usually needs more than one. We confirm the timescale in your quotation.

How much does a smart home security system cost?

It depends which systems you want connected and the size of your property, so we do not publish fixed prices. The site survey is free and comes with a written quotation, with no obligation to proceed.

Is the system monitored, and will the police be notified automatically?

Monitoring by a 24/7 alarm receiving centre is available through our monitored alarms service, and police response can be added where it applies. It is not included automatically with every smart home installation, so mention it at your survey if it matters to you.

Can I let a cleaner or delivery driver in remotely?

Yes, if you have a smart lock or video intercom fitted as part of your system. You can unlock the door through the app for someone you are expecting.
