Although a blog post from Police UK says that nationwide, crime continues to fall, their burglary statistics for the Kent area show a different story.
As you can see from the graph, for Kent as a whole and also for the area of Kent around Maidstone, the number of burglaries was higher in the quarter to September 2013 than for the same period in 2012.
We also have figures from their site for crime levels generally in the Maidstone, Kent area.
The Crime Survey of England and Wales (CSEW) which covers the period up until June 2013 shows overall crime fell to the lowest level since the survey began in 1981. That survey shows that household theft is down 19% and household (vehicle and property related) crime was down 10%.
