Here's a checklist for vehicle, personal and home security
Home security
Are your windows shut and locked?
Are you doors locked?
Timer switches on for radios or lamps?
Are valuables out of sight?
External Security in towns or rural areas
Are your gates locked?
Is your garden or other equipment secured?
Are your boundaries secured?
Do you have security lights?
Are your sheds locked?
Are outbuildings secured and alarmed?
Is machinery secured overnight with the keys removed?
Personal possessions
What have you security marked?

Are your car keys out of sight
Vehicle security
Is your vehicle:
- Locked
- Alarmed
- Windows closed
- Tools removed
Are the boot and the glove box empty?
Has the SatNav been removed?
Have you removed your handbag
Personal security when out and about
Is your wallet out of sight?
Is your phone in a zipped pocket and do you put it away after use?
Is your rucksack zipped up?
Is your purse in a closed handbag?
When you sit down for a rest, do you keep your bags in view?
Personal security at the cashpoint
Do you cover your PIN when you are entering it at the cash machine
Are you alert to what is happening around you?
When you have finished, are your cards and cash put away securely before you move on?
