In April, 2013, the European Parliament website revealed that MEPs had voted to adopt a ban on discarding unwanted fish from 35 species caught between the North Sea and the Baltic - otherwise known as the Skagerrak.
However, to enforce this discard ban, member states will be required to set up a remote electronic monitoring system. This means that boats over 12m long will have to be equipped with CCTV, GPS and transmitting equipment.
This scheme was first piloted in the UK in February, as reported by the BBC. Find out how CCTV Systems and Video Surveillance can keep an eye on your workforce.
